Northern Nova Podiatry is named after Nova the Shih-Tzu and our love of walking in the northern countryside of the UK.
Our Podiatrist Caelan graduated from The University of Huddersfield with a first in Podiatry in 2023. Whilst studying, as well as the required 1000 practice hours, she worked as a Podiatry assistant providing domiciliary foot care for 1.5 years and continued as a Podiatrist for a further year before starting Northern Nova Podiatry.
With all the walking we do, foot health is a top priority and we offer a range of services to help our patients maintain optimal foot and ankle health. From routine care to one off appointments. Whether you have diabetes, thick nails, hard skin or foot and ankle pain, or are just looking for some advice, contact us today.
Caelan is doing a PhD in Prosthetics & Orthotics science with the University of Salford and XSENSOR, researching the global use of plantar pressure in referral and determining the effectiveness of orthotics for the diabetic foot. Public and patient involvement, as well as clinician input, is essential in conducting this research. If you would like to know more or be involved, please send an email to us and follow Caelan's academic X: @caelanscottphd.
We perform comprehensive foot exams to evaluate your foot health and identify any potential problems. We use the latest diagnostic tools and techniques, staying up to date with recent research, to provide accurate diagnoses and effective treatment plans.
Whether you have a sprained ankle, plantar fasciitis, heel pain or arthritis, our Podiatrist can help you get back on your feet. We offer a range of treatments, from exercise rehabilitation to insole therapy.
If you have a fungal infection or thick nails, we offer routine treatment to help manage your condition, at a time interval to suit you.
Diabetes can have a detrimental impact on your foot health, including the development of neuropathy, reduced blood flow and ulceration. Our podiatrist provides specialised care for patients with diabetes, including regular foot exams, wound care, and diabetic foot education.

A podiatrist is a medically trained health professional who specialises in the lower limb, foot and ankle. A Podiatrist is a protected title regulated by the HCPC [Health and Care Professions Council] and they assess, diagnose, treat and provide health education for a range of conditions of the foot and ankle.
Podiatry and Chiropody both refer to the assessment and treatment of the lower limb. A podiatrist is a newer term for Chiropodist, but those who have qualified as a Podiatrist have acquired additional diagnostic and treatment skills, particularly in the area of musculoskeletal conditions.
Seeing a podiatrist can help you manage routine foot care, foot and ankle pain, prevent future problems, and improve your overall foot health. They can also provide you with advice on proper foot care and footwear.
Please have with you a list of any medications you are currently taking, and be able to provide a medical history to the Podiatrist at the appointment.
